Astrology - What Judaism Has to Say About It.

Today, Rav Ariel Bar Tzadok of http://www.koshertorah.com/ joined me and spoke about the Zodiac and the 12 Tribes of Israel.

I always thought that it was more or less asur (forbidden) to have an astrologic chart made for someone, but I guess that is not true, AS LONG as the person having the chart done knows that it is only, only, only an indicator of what COULD be, but is DEFINITELY not the whole truth.

If one looks at astrology like a personality test one takes from a psychologist, it can be a good tool to explore your personality. It should NOT be used to tell the future. One MUST remember that only the Kadosh Baruch Hu, The Holy One Blessed Be He, will have the last say. Remember, Astrology is a TOOL, it is not LAW set in stone.

So... perhaps when a child is about to marry, it may be an interesting aside to do, to see if the young couple have a good match in the 'personality sphere' together.

You can listen to the show at this link: www.IsraelNationalRadio.com We also cover the connection between the 12 Tribes of Israel and the 12 zodiac signs.

Very interesting topic. The rabbi sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

Although once I was completely unbelieving I still can "mityahes" to what the rabbi spoke of.

That was an interesting show Tamar & thank you...I understand what you said in your post, it makes sense. There is a 'stigma' to many that astrology is a bad thing, but It it depends on how much emphasis one would put on it. What I am wondering is going to a psychic looked at the same? Very interesting stuff.

I would leave my comments, but I deal in facts and truth and try to be fair and balanced. But I seem to step on a lot of toes by calling a spade a spade, and I am a Christian. Amazing how we Christians buy
Jewish Books and programs to try to both learn and try to understand
the Jewish ways of thoughts. But I have found the Jewish people are of
many differents sects with many ideas of their own on the scriptures just like many Christian Denominations do. Like one sect says G_D while
others (some Jewish Misnistes) say and write God, and it's OK. When one thinks many Jews are wrong when saying Zechariah 8:23 is future, when I
read it as being past. Gee, I'm not one of the different beliefs of
Jews, so I don't know what I'm talking about. Again I see why some
Jewish Ministers want to say Zechariah 13:5 and 6 is talking about
Jesus, so they can mock and claim He was a phony. Yet anyone who can
read see the New Testament says Jesus was a CARPENTER, not a
heardsman,---dah. Of course being a layman wothout all the schooling
and following of men, I have to read it with the help of the Holy
Spirit of God, who is my Teacher. It seems the self-righteous, or
should I say those who lack knowledge themselves refuse to talk to Christians about JC, yet they talk about him all the time in
their teachings to mocking and make fun of Him. Is it cowardly, fear,or shame that in reality causes them to be SELF-CENTERED,
    SELF-RIGHTEOUS, TWO-FACED USERS, BACK-STABERS, UNFRIENDLY, STIFF-NECKED
and seem to appear to the world as thinking they are better, their own
little self-gods, and all the other 6-Billion People in the world is
wrong. They want to make fun of Christians and Americans who have kept
them in shoes, in a manor of speaking. Though God said He would take
Israel back, not take a Jew(s)outwardly, by skin tone or Bloodline
back. What if Zechariah is talking about the future and God is talking
about the Jews who are Jews inwardly and not outwardly only. Gee, that
would mean "ALL" who follow Him. Remember the scriptures say only a
remant will TURN TO GOD (maybe meaning none are serving and following
Him at this time)and He will save 1/3 of them. How many will that 1/3
be if He comes say tomorrow or 5 or 10 years from now? What if you are
wrong about Christ and the Holy Spirit some of you call an "it" and
thereby damn yourselves to Hell? Why is it you can believe some Jewish
Minister who tells a Mother that her daughter maybe the way she is
because in a LIFE-BEFORE she was pretty and perfect, in a manor of
speaking. gee, I wonder who he believes Adam and Eve are today. Well
maybe he will be a jack-ass in his next life, but he is already proving
himself to be one in this life, or maybe is a witch doctor or deamon,
etc. No wonder it says God uses the foolish things of this world to
confuse the wise. Oh well, no where do I find where the simple and
called common people have been made fools and remembered for their
ignorance, it is always the wise and educated who are found out, judged
and remembered for their errors. Of course most of them have wares or
something to sell or self-gain from to start with. well I thank my God
and His Son, that I am a simple layman who has nothing to
sell. we are told to pray for the Peace Of Jerusalem and all the
saints, not outwardly Jews. So we love and Pray for everyone jsut like
we do the Iraqies, etc. God is in charge and in control, not man. "Who
knows the mind and thoughts of God? His ways are not our ways,
remember? Pride is a devil, get rid of it and love everyone, not just
outwardly Jews, like God said to do.

jimmy k... You are very confused. You know nothing about Jewish LAWS and Jewish CUSTOMS, so how do you make your conclusions? For instance, writing the name of God or G-d is not a LAW, it is a custom where some Jews, not wanting for the name of G-d to be erased, deleted, crumpled and thrown into the waste basket or in any manner desecrated, write it that way, so the NAME is not desecrated, and this is being extra careful as English words and letters are NOT the Hebrew NAME of G-d. And for YOU telling US that we shouldn't just love outwardly Jews, but everyone, ... your religion comes from ours. it is the Torah that says to love your neighbor like yourself. Your Christian religion killed and slaughtered the Jews throughout the centuries. Climb down from your high tower, and stop putting others down when you do not know Hebrew or Jewish Law, and only view Judaism from the sidelines as an ignorant spectator!

....about astrology- a long time ago it was almost a science, today so much info has been lost that it isnt that firm , so........ we should use it if necessary as a guide, but on the other hand , astrological data still doesnt supercede Hashem's will. If all the evidence said for example, dont marry this girl, but it was your destiny, the info wouldnt impede that destiny and if 2 people were unsuited but committed to working things out between them(or countries) it could be done.

Isn't astrology a Babylonian adulteration of the original "Gospel in the stars", where the original names of the stars in order of brightness in each constellation make sentences about the Messiah? For instance, Leo the Lion, and Virgo, the virgin holding the baby.

It's very interesting. I'd really like to know more of those star names to see.

Let me leave all you blogsters with this:
Adam, Seth, Enosh ... Noah - These 10 names (from the geneology in Genesis) make a sentence :D -
Man is appointed mortal sorrow; the blessed God comes down revealing that His death shall bring the despairing comfort.

Hey, that was a great show about astrology!

The biggest problem with the way the public sees astrology is that many still believe its part of the occult, and that there’s something supernatural about it or that it has to do with divination. The second-biggest problem is that the public sees it as a way of predicting events. I'm an astrologer of some 13 years experience and I can say outright that it's a darn poor method to predict the future. It's a lousey way to attempt to preduct the future. OTOH, it's a great method of personality assessment and it beats modern psychology hands-down.

I was very positively impressed and learned quite a bit with regard to methods of personality assessment by other means, such as by way of pupil patterns, palmistry, shoulder configurations, etc. I always thought that astrology is “second to none” with regard to personality assessment. Well, relative to modern-day psychology it certainly is the better diagnostic tool – but it appears it’s only one of a number of tools that can be used. I know someone who had been learning reflexology in a serious way and he said his teacher could assess his customer’s personality just by the signs that appear on the feet. He said it takes years of practice to put this to good use but the personality is also expressed in one’s feet. I wonder how a reflexologist would carry out a synastry comparison between two people in order to assess their compatibility for marriage or a business partnership? Would the reflexologists ask the pair to lie on separate beds with their feet overhanging the edges and then go back and forth between their feet to make the assessment? Well, if it would work, then why not?

Since the proclivity is there for mortals to make the astrological chart more important than it is, the wise would say why dabble with such foolishness?

Let's let the inerrant word of God speak here.
Deuteronomy 29:29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
Now, you can see what is manifest in the heavens above of Gods finger print and what the word says on it, second and learn the science mechanics of it also with simple God given human intelligence he gave us to understand things with. The third realm of the astrology aspect is from the minions of darkness with the countless mysticisms and theologies. As this planet was given in part over to the enemy (satan), which is expressed in SIN , most who operate in that fallen nature function in the wickedness and ignorrance from the demons who minister to those willing to embrace it on this and other subjects. You have only two choices. Gods wisdom or the deception, misdirection and confusion of our enemy!
